3M Scotchcast Inline Resin Power Cable Splice Kit 82-AN is designed to insulate and seal 5kV rated unshielded, single conductor cables and 1kV rated multiple conductor cables.   Quickly and easily insulate and create a permanent watertight seal for use in weather-exposed or direct-burial locations without the need for heat or additional tools.   Designed to not melt or run once cured and stable at elevated temperatures. Two-part closed mixing pouch simplifies mixing and pouring, generating its own heat to cure. Includes a mold body, pouring spouts, 23 electrical tape and No. 4N resin.   UL listed for direct burial and submerged applications up to 600 V and 90C. For use with UL listed connectors only.

Join conductors with compression-type connectors

Assemble end caps onto mold body

Pour splice

INSTALLATION

Install End Caps. Trim conical ends of end caps at proper guide marks to provide a firm sliding fit on cable sheath. Slip end caps onto each cable.

Install Mold Body. Slip mold

CONNECTION

Join conductors with compression-type connectors. Follow connector manufacturer's instructions.

Multi-conductor Cables. Stagger individual connectors (provide lateral spacing of 1/2 in between ends of connectors) and insulate connector with Scotch Rubber Electrical Tape 23. For 600 volts or less, use 3M Scotchlok Insulated Butt Connectors. Note: Connectors not provided with kit.

ASSEMBLE MOLD BODY

Assemble end caps onto mold body. Center mold body over splice with pour spouts in upright position.

Important: Cables and connector must be centered in mold.

POUR SPLICE

*Use the product with safety gloves.

Position splice level. Mix resin thoroughly per instructions on resin package.

Pour resin immediately after mixing. Fill mold through one spout with both spouts are completely filled.

When resin has solidified and cooled, splice may be put into service.

    The resin itself was fine but the tape that holds it all together was not any good anymore because it had aged out so I had the epoxy leaking out due to that. This is an excellent product, but in this case it had expired.
