This is also known as as the Ortek VRC-1100. I'm using it for XBMC and Windows 8 and works great in both. I've got the number pad quick launching Windows Apps with very little setup. (Just right-click the shortcut icon, select Properties, click mouse into the "Shortcut Key" box, press the remote button of your choosing, click Apply and you're set.) Most of the buttons are configurable for XBMC by creating a keyboard.xml file in ‾/.xbmc/userdata/keymaps under the structure:
<keymap> <global> <keyboard> <g mod="ctrl">ToggleFullscreen</g> <!-- EXAMPLE for Guide button to toggle full-screen --> <numpadone>ContextMenu</numpadone> <!-- EXAMPLE for #1 on number pad to show context menu --> </keyboard> </global> </keymap>
The top 2 rows of buttons are:
<t mod="ctrl,shift">Notification(Key, Yellow, 3)</t> <!-- Yellow button --> <m mod="ctrl">Notification(Key, Blue, 3)</m> <!-- Blue button --> Notification(Key, Green, 3) <!-- Green button --> <e mod="ctrl">Notification(Key, Red, 3)</e> <!-- Red button --> <o mod="ctrl">Notification(Key, u/Yellow, 3)</o> <!-- Button under Yellow --> <g mod="ctrl">Notification(Key, u/Blue, 3)</g> <!-- Button under Blue --> <t mod="ctrl">Notification(Key, u/Green, 3)</t> <!-- Button under Green --> <m mod="ctrl,shift">Notification(Key, u/Red, 3)</m> <!-- Button under Red -->
I've only had it for a day so I can't comment on the quality but it feels pretty solid and the IR works from anywhere in my living room, even when not pointed at the IR receiver. My only gripes are that the "i" info button cannot be configured and the layout could be a bit better (but that's due to the mouse controller). At this price you're not going to find a better remote.
