As a corporate entity operating in Okinawa, AEC is committed to vitalizing its community. To demonstrate this commitment, we support the activities of Ryukyu Golden Kings, a professional basketball team based in Okinawa and promote our common mission of invigorating Okinawa through athletic events and entertainment.

Each year, Kadena Airbase holds the “Special Olympics” for people with physical or intellectual disabilities. These events are aimed at assisting the participants to demonstrate their capabilities in athletic activities. From 2016, AEC supports these events through donation and fundraising to aid self-help of the participants and enhancement their quality of life.

AEC donates a part of its profit to “Kokusai Fukushi-Kai Misato Jidōen”, a Social Welfare Organization which provides home and care for children without guardians.

• From 2003 to 2013: AEC provides support through regular building and ground maintenance and repair services.
• From 2014 to the present: AEC provides support through donation.

AEC donates a part of its profit to “AmerAsian School in Okinawa”, a non-profit organization that provides primary education for “AmerAsian students” (students with parental connections to both Japan and America) who are disadvantaged in learning at public schools due to discriminations and prejudice against their racial or cultural backgrounds.

• AEC supports operation of the school through annual donation.
• AEC regularly donates papers to be used by the pupils for learning purposes.

AEC donates papers to the “Child Development Center (CDC)” of Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, an on-campus facility which provides day-care service to children aged 0 to 6, to aid their learning and development.

• From 2003 to 2013: AEC provides support through regular building and ground maintenance and repair services.
• From 2014 to the present: AEC provides supports through donation of goods.

AEC has donated papers to the “Kiyuna Hoikuen”, a local nursery school (AEC was awarded a contract to build its new school building), to assist learning and development of the children.

AEC and its employees actively support and get involved in the blood donation campaign (“Blood Donation Bus”), the Red Feather Campaigns, the Japanese Red Cross, and various other social welfare and charity organizations.

AEC supports welfare and charity organizations to improve the lives of US military personnel and their families. Such organizations include “USO OKINAWA”, “DFAS-JAPAN” and “Kadena First Sergeants Association”.

In 2018, AEC has started replacing its company vehicles with hybrid cars to reduce the impact of our business on the environment.
As of 2022, AEC operates 110 hybrid cars, which represent 70% of total number of vehicles operated by the company (this applies to passenger vehicles: freight vehicles and heavy construction equipment are excluded from the number).
We plan to expand this number to 200 by 2025 to further improve our environmental performance.

AEC holds clean-up projects to beautify the neighborhood and nearby beaches and facilitate communications and good relations with other members of the community. Through these activities, we raise our environmental awareness and contribute to the creation of a cleaner and more cooperative local environment.

AEC strictly observes the rules and guidance on proper disposal of waste items and each member of the company remains committed to the Company’s mission to protect the environment.

• We sort the burnable, food wastes and used bento boxes, scrap iron and stainless-steel materials appropriately.
• We sort and process re-usable materials for recycling (plastic & glass bottles, steel & aluminum cans, cardboards, etc.)
• We handle used batteries and their materials appropriately (nickel-cadmium, nickel, NiMH, lithium ion, etc.).
