HUNTINGTON – Two attorneys have filed wage and payment lawsuits against a Huntington law firm.

Matthew Oliver and Jason A. Leasure filed their complaints last month in Cabell Circuit Court against Vital & Vital LC and R. Matthew Vital as the sole officer of the firm.

According to the complaints, both say the firm didn’t properly pay them when they left the firm in July.

Oliver says he began working at the firm in 2008 and is owed wages based on attorney fees in the amount of $25,150. He says he also will be owed future wages as other settlements are finalized

Leasure says he began working at the firm in 2007 and is owed wages based on attorney fees in the amount of $25,150. In addition, he says his final paycheck of $2,045.50 and a bonus referral check of $4,826.50 were not provided until after the next scheduled payday, which is a violation of state code. Leasure also says he will be owed future wages as other settlements are finalized.

Vital & Vital did not return messages seeking comment for this story.

Both men seek compensatory damages, liquidated damages, attorney fees, court costs and other relief. They are being represented by J. Michael Ranson and Cynthia M. Ranson of Ranson Law Offices in Charleston.
