RVV-MDAll Soviet-Russian-designed combat aircraft were equipped with short-range R-73 missiles, and therefore they are known to a good part of the world. At the same time, the homing heads for these SD were supplied by the Ukrainian company Arsenal.
However, within the framework of the Army-2023 forum, Vimpel presented the newest version of RVV-MD2 (export name R-73M).

As indicated, RVV-MD2 visually differs from the R-73 of the new GOS and the disappearance of 4 angle of attack sensors. At the same time, the missile, like its predecessor, is aimed at the target via a dual-band infrared channel, having a very high resistance to countermeasures. It can hit targets with an overload of 12G at speeds up to 2500 km/h.

The angle of its defeat is 60 °, but thanks to the control of the thrust vector, the rocket can turn 180° at launch. It has two types of proximity detector with a target – laser and Doppler.
Another innovation was the placement of RVV-MD2, developed for 5th and 6th generation aircraft, inside the fuselage. Being inside the aircraft, the rocket receives data about the target from the onboard radar, and after launch it switches to scanning by its own GPS, which was impossible on the R-73 or R-74.
