Darlings, we have to admit that this was a surprisingly tasteful and stylish Tonys red carpet. Not that they’re normally know for being tacky or anything, but we’ve been doing this long enough to remember when the efforts were distinctly more hit-or-miss on the average Tonys red carpet. If we had to describe the overall vibe, it’s like New York high society style shot through with quite a bit of Hollywood-style glam.

But enough of that. Let’s judge!

We support any man who wants to do something interesting with his formalwear, but that coat really doesn’t feel like it goes with the tux. They’re fighting with each other. You really don’t want to introduce a pinstripe element to a tuxedo.

Simple, but flawlessly elegant and stylish. Perfectly Halston in tone. Love the peek of leopard in their pumps.

We LOVE that she’s really learned to lean in on her Delia Deetz/Moira Rose style background. If everyone keeps outfitting you in black-and-white for your most iconic roles, why wouldn’t you take that and run with it?

This is one of those prairie dresses that looks way too literal – as in, this should be on a mannequin in some frontier history museum as someone’s preserved wedding dress or something. It’s interesting to note just how far the trend for modesty in Hollywood has gone. If they take it any further, they’ll be stepping out in nuns’ habits.

Does this lady know how to work a red carpet or what? Who thinks to use the actual logo of the event as a prop? This is some old-school Joan Crawford-level stuff. As for the dress, we really love the play between the sequins and the pink velvet, which is used sparingly enough to make a point without overwhelming the dress.

As we say constantly, skirt/pant hybrids never really work. Having said that, this is the closest anyone’s come to pulling it off.

It’s not the freshest design in the world but the colors look fantastic on her. Also: not to put too fine a point on it, but the lady’s 54 and since she’s looking pretty spectacular in a strapless, slit-to-the-hip sheer gown, any style critiques these two queens might want to make are kind of pointless. Werq it, mama.

We respect it, but there’s just a bit too much in terms of shape, texture and embellishment. We think the white pants are a mistake and the shoes should be toned down in order to let the top half of the outfit shine.
