Fatehpur Sikri to be developed into a world-class tourist destination

Fatehpur Sikri will soon be developed into a tourist hotspot on the lines of its more famous neighbour, Taj Mahal. Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma recently made an announcement referring to this development in a bid to boost tourism.
While addressing the media, he mentioned that he has already instructed the district magistrate and the chief development officer to conduct a survey of the said site and report the problems and priorities that need to be addressed to develop Fatehpur Sikri into a world-class tourist destination.

He further stated that for the current financial year, the state government has already allotted INR 442.78 crore, which will be used to carry out developmental work in and around Agra.
Situated around 40 km from Agra, Fatehpur Sikri has also been recognised by the UNESCO as the World Heritage site. If we go by records, it took 15 years to built this walled city, and the complex houses several courts, palaces, a harem, and a mosque. Fatehpur Sikri, also known as the City of Victory, was built in late 16th century by Akbar, which served as the new capital for the Mughal Empire.

Till date, the city is no longer the same as the bygone era, though it boasts of a grand building, sandstone arches and courtyards exhibiting Jain, Persian and Hindu designs. Many visit this place while they are on a day trip to Agra, and the tourist footfall in this place is also quite significant.

Now, if this place gets the deserved attention, it is likely that Fatehpur Sikri might be the next best tourist spot.
