Cherry Red Currant

Ribes Rubrum. These attractive small shrubs produce abundant crops of bright red berries delicious for fresh eating, jams, jellies and pies. The upright berry bushes produce pretty fragrant blossoms attractive to pollinators in spring and large striking clusters of cascading berries in summer. Self fertile, so you can plant just one or a grouping of different types. They prefer partial shade, well drained fertile soil. Mature size 3 to 5 feet in height, 3 to 5 feet wide. Yield 10 to 20 lbs berries per season. Bloomtime March/April, fruit ripens in July/August. Hardy to USDA zone 3.
