Top 10 Anime Characters Whose Name Starts With a C

This list is an interesting one because according to Anime-Planet, I only love 11 anime characters whose name starts with a C. A lot of them start with a Ch, because most characters with the hard C sound would start with K, and most characters with the soft C sound would start with an S. Of these 11 characters, there are a few that truly stand out, and others, not so much. Let’s get started.

10. Chizuru Mitsudera (Hand Shakers)

Hand Shakers is not a terrible anime. It’s an OK anime, albeit a forgettable anime. But, my favorite character from Hand Shakers is Chizuru Mitsudera. She’s an office worker who is very short for her age, and that’s about it. If you find that character to be interesting, go watch My Senpai is Annoying instead.

9. Chiwa Harusaki (OreShura)

There’s not much to Chiwa other than that she’s short and cute and the childhood frends. Her anime is unmemorable.

8. Chinatsu Yoshikawa (Yuru Yuri)

She’s the most hated Yuru Yuri character for being annoyingly overly attached to Kyoko. My favorite part of Chinatsu is that she has pink hair and is from the best CGDCT anime I watched.

These past few characters feel like they don’t deserve honorable mentions in other lists, but I still enjoy these characters. That’s how few characters I like that start with a C. Not to mention that I liked most of these characters before 2018.

7. Colette (This Art Club Has a Problem)

Colette is my third favorite character of This Art Club Has a Problem. She’s French and has blonde hair. She’s also sort of a chuunibyou, and moments featuring her were fun. Unlike the first three characters on this list, people seem to like her! If you decide to watch This Art Club Has a Problem for Colette, you wouldn’t be disappointed.

6. Chocolat (NouCome)

Now we’re getting into my real favorites. Colette was a big step up from the last three anime girls, and Chocolat is a big step up from Colette. I love Chocolat’s happy-go-lucky personality and her design. If I had to give her design a score, it would easily be a 10/10!

5. Chiyo Mihama (Azumanga Daioh)

Chiyo is one of two characters that made Azumanga Daioh a treat to watch. She is adorable and is incredibly smart for her age. If you haven’t watched Azumanga Daioh yet, you’re missing out on a piece of anime history.

4. Cocoa Hoto (GochiUsa/Is the Order a Rabbit?)

GochiUsa is my most rewatched anime, and as a result, I get more attached to the characters. More specifically, the characters that Chino are close to. Cocoa is definitely a close friend to Chino, and her personality is the opposite of Chino-chan. Cocoa is the bubbly, energetic type, and I do enjoy a lot of moments featuring Cocoa, but that’s mainly because a lot of Cocoa moments involve Chino-chan.

3. Charlotte Izoard (The Ryuo’s Work is Never Done!)

The moments featuring Charlotte are some of the cutest moments of The Ryou’s Work is Never Done! Like Colette, she has French heritage and has blonde hair (partially). Plus, she’s voiced by Yui Ogura, who voiced the cutest loli of all time, Hinata Hakamada. Charlotte Izoard is easily the cutest character on this list.

You might be wondering: With all that praise I gave, why is Charlotte only #3? Well, she doesn’t get that much fan art compared to the next characters I’ll be talking about. It’s very important for a character to be generating much fan art. The less fan art a character has, the less I’ll think about them.

2. Chika Fujiwara (Kaguya-Sama: Love is War)

I bet none of you are surprised to see Chika Fujiwara on this list. This makes it the second time a Fujiwara makes the #2 spot on a list like this. While Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane are the two main characters of Kaguya-Sama: Love is War (and they’re all great characters), the side characters shine brightly. Chika is most definitely one of those characters. She’s got a bubbly and cheerful personality like Cocoa and pink hair like Chinatsu. What makes Chika stand out is the role she plays in this anime. In this comedic love war, Chika just adds more hijinks. Plus, that dance and song at the end of Episode 3 was something else! She’s so beloved, that she was on a WatchMojo list of best anime girls!

1. Chino Kafuu (GochiUsa/Is the Order a Rabbit?)

Chino-chan is my favorite anime character. She definitely is cute, and the art style that GochiUsa has is among one of the cutest in all of anime. It was an extremely influential moe style, which is one reason why Chino has tons and tons of fan art. Even today, lots of Chino fan art is being made. That alone makes Chino my favorite anime character.

But what about her personality? As I said earlier, Chino’s personality is the opposite of Cocoa’s personality. She’s the cold, serious type, but she isn’t cruel. In fact, her deadpan deliveries are some of the most adorable deadpan deliveries I’ve seen in anime. She’s the one making sure Cocoa does not goof off too much. And her voice? It is super cute without having to be squeaky. Chino-chan is voiced by Inori Minase and is among her earliest voice acting roles. She would later go on to voice Rem (Re:Zero). I love Chino-chan before Re:Zero got adapted into an anime. I always seek the cutest anime to watch because it makes me happy, and GochiUsa is one of the cutest and happiest anime I’ve ever watched!

My Favorite Touhou Character Staring With a C

No other character has made quite the impact like this character. She was my introduction to Touhou and has forever changed my life. I probably wouldn’t be here without her. I, of course, am talking about Konata Cirno. When I first saw her in a Sparta remix, I thought, “Is that Konata from Lucky Star?” I then found this video in my recommendations.

This wasn’t the exact video, but I remember watching it back in April 2010.

When I first watched it, I was confused and mesmerized. But I kept watching it over and over again, and it became one of my favorite videos of all time. I got to know who that blue-haired girl is, and I got to know where she came from. Ever since then, Touhou became my dominant fandom for years. If it weren’t for Touhou, I probably would have had been miserable.

If Cirno were to be on this list, she would take the #1 spot. She is my all-time favorite character. She’s so cute. I love her design. I became obsessed with her. My obsession was so strong, that there was a slim chance that when I type something, I would randomly type in “Cirno”. However, my obsession with Cirno is starting to die out. Part of the reason for that is because the western Touhou fandom was much different a decade ago than it is now, and I miss the old Touhou fandom. Even the Cirno fandom feels quite different from the rest of the Touhou fandom, and that has also changed. I’m not sure how often I’ll think about Cirno in 10 years, but the impact that Cirno has left on my life cannot be understated.
