Hola Señors and Señoritas!

Another season is upon us, which means more anime to run through and dabble with in my free time. I’m gonna give you the potential bangers and personal choices I’m feeling in the early moments of the Spring 2023 season. And honestly, there was not a lot to choose from this season. To be honest, this season is fucking Isekai-Land AGAIN and that still isn’t my schtick. So, for what’s around this season…

Let’s go:

I’m a sucker for a feel-good high school Anime, and Skip and Loafer looks to be this season’s inclusion to the genre.  Iwakura hopes to remove herself from her small town lifestyle to join a prestigious university and bettering those around her with her positive hopes for implementing change in the world.  She’s just gotta get through High School life in Tokyo, something she’s not at all ready for.  Small town girl living in a big ass world (que your Journey lyrics but not really) has all the potential I need to give this a run.

With this series being one of the very, very few isekais I watch (Shield Hero being the other but that 2nd season did not impose much confidence going forward), I’m always stoked to see what Konosuba is going to conjure up.  Placing the Explosive Magic conjurer Megumin in the lead role, this prequel will show Megumin’s rise in magic alongside her sister, Yunyun.  Konosuba has a tendency to be a smidge too fan-service-y for my tastes, but I can’t deny how gut-bustingly funny it can be.  Absolutely worth the watch.

Potential tear-jerker of the Season here.  Astronomy Club members and fellow insomniacs Ganta and Isaki take a chance meeting late at night to bond, using future nights to further their friendship and cope with the loss of one of their club members.  It’s a solid enough premise to make some waves with the “club members who wouldn’t be friends learn to be friends and maybe more,” that I eat up immediately.  Will keep some Puffs around for the eyes and hope Insomniacs After School delivers where it can.

One of my all-time favorite series is getting the OVA treatment 3 years after its final season wrapped up the love struggles between Hachiman, Yukino, and Yui.  I have absolutely no idea what’s in store for the OVA, but I’ll take literally any more seconds of this franchise I can before they hang it up for good.  Please and thank you, make a movie.  About what?  Don’t care, make a movie.

That’s all I have for this Season! Anything else I should be watching? Let me know.
