Mark Harmon on Possible Freaky Friday Sequel: If Jamie Lee Curtis Is 'Talking About It, Then It'll Happen'

The actor said he thinks a sequel to the 2003 Disney comedy will happen, thanks to the Oscar winner

Mark Harmon is dishing on a possible Freaky Friday sequel.

During a Monday appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Harmon — who played Ryan Volvo, the partner of Jamie Lee Curtis' character Tess Coleman, in the 2003 flick — said that he thinks a sequel will happen, thanks to the Oscar winner.

While discussing the Disney comedy and the recent resurgence in popularity of his 1987 movie Summer School, Harmon, 72, said, “The first one is because Jamie’s talking about it, and you know Jamie ... ”

“Yeah, I love Jamie!” interjected host Kelly Clarkson.

“I do too. And I’ve known her since she was 15, and if she’s talking about it, then it’ll happen, because all things happen,” added Harmon.

The Everything Everywhere All at Once star, 65, has made no secret of her desire to revisit the much-loved film.

Earlier this month, Curtis hinted that a second Freaky Friday installment could be on the cards when she reunited with her costar Lindsay Lohan, who played Tess' daughter Anna in the first film.

Alongside a smiley selfie of the pair shared on Instagram, Curtis wrote, "Too late. YOU GREW UP and SO BEAUTIFULLY! Well, it's Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future! @lindsaylohan @disney.”

Meanwhile, in a joint May interview with The New York Times in honor of the movie’s 20-year anniversary, Lohan, 37, confirmed that both she and Curtis are open to the possibility of doing a sequel but are "leaving it in the hands that be."

"We would only make something that people would absolutely adore," she added.

Months earlier, Curtis also told Variety of a sequel, “It’s going to happen. Without saying there’s anything officially happening, I’m looking at you in this moment and saying, ‘Of course it’s going to happen.’ It’s going to happen.”

As for what the follow-up film could look like, Curtis revealed during an appearance on The View in October 2022 that she would love to play an "old grandma who switches bodies" with Lohan.

"So then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma, who is still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon," the actress said. "And simply, I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today."

"I wanna be a helicopter parent in today's world, as an old lady," she joked.
