Bernadette Peters leads standing ovation for ‘The Prom’ actress’ gala performance

When Bernadette Peters starts the standing ovation for you, you must be doing something right.

Tony winner Beth Leavel brought the house down at the Miscast gala at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Monday night.

Leavel’s starring in “The Prom,” and there’s buzz that she could be nominated again.

She sang Judy Garland’s version of “Ol’ Man River” and received the only standing ovation of the night.

Peters was the first to jump to her feet as soon as Leavel finished singing.

Laura Linney was honored at the event, and Sara Bareilles, Jennifer Nettles and Billy Porter were also spotted.
