Fastech 360 was developed by the East Japan Rail Company in 2005.  The train was designed to test technologies on the new generation of Shinkansen.  It has the maxium speed of 360km/h and the result of this experimental train had incorporated into the E5 and E6 series.  A nick name Nekomimi Shinkansen (cat-eared shinkansen) had been given from the design of the air break that would extend a plate like an aircraft.

Why do you think engineers would like to spend money on designing this new unique train for experimental use instead of saving money and use existing train model?
