Has been there a few times already. And called on a phone multiple times. Always very nice friendly people ready to help you. Great service.

Went to get a replacement SS card and the wait time was extremely long. They couldn't answer specific questions about why I haven't been receiving SS statements in the mail like how it used to be.

Tucked inside the mall, enter from entrance next to American Savings Bank. You will see the SS office on your left.
As stated in earlier reviews sign in on computer kiosk and wait till they call your number. I went on a Monday at 12:45 and completed replacement SS card by 1. Waited about 12 mins before getting my name called.
Great experience and glad I came to Hilo office.

They moved from their old location in downtown Hilo to their location in the Prince Kuhio Plaza. They're located near the American Savings Bank and within close proximity to the Macy's Womens' store; they're on the side of the mall that has the old Safeway + Longs Drugs.

Mon - Fri, 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM (closed on federal holidays)

When you go in, you'll have to "check-in" at a computer kiosk located to your right. It'll print out a number on a receipt + den you can have a seat in da waiting area. A security guard stands watch at a desk in a corner.

I waited a while since it was busy. However, once I got called I found the employees really friendly and helpful. The staff was nicest out of all the Social Security offices I have ever worked at.

This office is only open 1/2 day on Wednesdays.. They never ever ever answer phones which makes it hard when you live 30 miles away and only need a simple answer.

Very rude service, almost snobby. Came in here with a certified copy of a document, as I had been told back home, that was necessary to get a new card. Lara was not helpful, not trying to help find a solution, had a big attitude and sent me away. Not coming back here and I don't recommend it but i guess if you live here there's not much choice.
