Hide Chan Ramen reopened this month! As of press time, I've had takeout from here twice. (But before COVID-19, I've been going here for the last year, maybe two?)
Their ramen's delish, and they hold their own compared to their more well-known competitors in the neighborhood (there's at least three). My favorites?
1. Red dragon: garlicky, fishy, and all good.
2. TanTanmen: ground pork, leek, half-boiled egg, sesame seeds, oyster sauce, and red chili oil. All copied from their Seamless page, and all accurate. It sells itself.
Aside from ramen, they have rice bowls - their eel rice bowl rocks. But Hide Chan's secret star? Their karaage fried chicken. It's so moist. Got it at least five times (twice for takeout). Their bambooshoot salad makes for a light and spicy standby, and the agedashi tofu actually works in takeout form.
Friendly service. But even if they weren't, let's be real: I haven't had ramen for a month. If you're cooking me ramen, you can be mean to me.Helpful 19Thanks 0Love this 19Oh no 0Business owner information

This is a cool place to hang around. It was my first time there. They weren't too busy until later on. There was just 2 people running the tables so it was slow. It took a while for us to order food. Be patient. The food are food. We were having lunch special option. I got the salmon avó don, it has way too much rice. The noodles tastes good.
I notice that they have happy hours from Monday to Thursday from 10pm to late. It was awesome and nice price for happy hours. I will come back to try it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 252374604Apr 2, 2018
Super delicious deluxe ramen... The noodles comforted my tongue, the pork melted in my mouth and the broth itself rejuvenated me. It was hearty! They had drink specials and appetizer specials we took advantage of but the main star is obviously the ramen.
P.S. The waitress was so nice! Thanked us so many times and was understanding that our party arrived at different times.
P.P.S. Pretty cool paintings and ambiance!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Christiam V.Bronx, NY774631Nov 14, 2020
Loveeeee this place.
We went there today for lunch the attentive service matched by delicious fresh food is worth five stars.
The spicy tofu was so fresh, buttery and creamy.
Steak bites were very soft and tender, not overly seasoned, allowing the palate to enjoy the meat's natural flavor.
The spicy miso was just amazing. Love the fact that the pork was grounded rather than serving in slices as many other places do. This allows the broth to be so much flavorful and textured.
This will definitely will be a new fab of us!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I really really wanted to find a new ramen golden spot...unfortunately this was not one of them. Decided to go with the classic ramen to test the waters of this place and boyy am I glad I did!
If a place can't perform well with the classic then sadly I have little faith in the other menu options.
I do have to give stars for the chasu pork that reminded me of fried roast pork, the wavy noodles and the pork broth.
It started off good- simple classic with chasu, green onions, mushroom ear with al-dente noodles. But as I got to the bottom of the bowl, it started getting...powdery almost? At first I thought it was the spoon but the closer I got to the bottom the "powder" I found...did they use a powder for their broth? I mean I'm fine with that as long as I can't detect it but this was too much. Literally as if someone dropped a cube of pork bouilline. It was very off putting so I couldn't even finish the soup.
Sad to say I'm disappointed so you'll find me at my current top ramen spot, Zundo-Ya.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 10, 2020Updated review
Never a bad bowl of noods here, although some visits are better than others. My go-to bowl is the spicy garlic ramen, which could definitely use a little more spice imho but the broth flavors are very palatable and always kick the salt craving I have whenever I have ramen. No wonder why it's still one of the more well-known of ramen places in the city!

Nov 22, 2017Previous reviewOne of my go-to and favorite ramen places in New York. Perfect for a hot day or cold, Hide-Chan really hits the spot when you're craving some noodle soup! It's super authentic, and the service has always been spot on every time I've been. I love the spicy miso ramen, my go to order. The red dragon is interestingly fishy, but not bad either. They also always have Mio on hand, which is among my favorite sparkling Sakes and kind of hard to find in liquor stores. Was introduced to it at Hide Chan actually, and ever since the sake and Hide Chan hold a special place in my heart. The chashu is nicely grilled, the noodles have texture and not limp, and the portion sizes very fair. Love both locations, although probably the newer, non-2nd floor one better since there's more room and more seating and less crowded. Always make it a point to come here if I'm craving ramen in Midtown East!

Already a fan of their east side location, I'm delighted that they opened another restaurant on the west side.
The formula is the same: solid ramen, reasonable prices and welcoming service.
After some edamame and yummy gyoza, we ordered a seaweed salad, which was also good (and sizable).
Spicy ramen: two succulent thick pieces of pork belly swimming in a delectable broth. They could put more vegetables, but the bowl is filling nonetheless (you can add more sides for a small surcharge).
Black garlic sauce ramen: probably the best ramen of the house.
Shrimp ramen: surprisingly very good; creamy and hearty.
I didn't get the chance to taste their miso ramen, but I will in my next visit.
Go and you won't regret it. Recommended.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ruth L.Middletown, NJ16382Aug 15, 2020
This place serves a variety of dishes aside from ramen - sushi, donburi and great appetizers. Had a few appetizer plates like the eggplant and rolls, then had eel sushi and sashimi - fresh and so good. My daughter had the ramen and it's delicious. I wish I have more room to eat ramen. Will try ramen next time.
There's outdoor seating and people keep coming. Highly recommended!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

It's pandemic time, dining is restricted to milling around outside or having your lunch huddled in some kind of shack IN the street ( not very desirable) but we have make do... anyway, let's talk food.
I'm on a job in NYC west side which is not wanting for Asian.
Hide-Chan is a jewel, their fare is wonderful and the wait staff is well trained.
We had ramen and soup mains Shrimp ramen & Garlic soup dishes w, Buttered, garlic edamame ! Fabulous
