Real Valladolid vs Real Madrid: The day for Solari's forgotten players

  /  autty

Real Madrid take on Real Valladolid on Sunday as LaLiga Santander returns.

Playing in the domestic competition is something Santiago Solari's side have to get used to, as it's the only thing left for them to compete in this season after a disastrous week.

Solari's forgotten men will have the chance to impress, with a different team to the one that faced Ajax set to make an appearance.

Injuries have taken their toll again and Solari only has 15 first team players available, meaning a number of Castilla graduates will get the chance to travel with the first team.

With Sergio Ramos suspended, Gareth Bale, Mariano Diaz, Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez, Marcos Llorente, Vinicius Junior and Luca Zidane all missed training on Saturday.

Given the predicament, the Argentine will use it as an opportunity to blood some youngsters.

Alvaro Odriozola is set to start on the right, having been left out of the team in recent weeks.

Nothing up top

But it's in attack where Madrid have the most problems. Without Bale, Mariano and Vinicius, Karim Benzema is the only forward. Isco and Brahim Diaz's names will be considered, but the former is unlikely to feature given Solari's latest comments about him being out of shape.

In the vacuum, Brahim could emerge. Constantly discarded by Solari, the ex-Manchester City player will be keen to show his worth.

Since arriving in January, he has been limited to just 28 minutes, with ten of those coming in LaLiga Santander and his complete disappearance is a mystery given he was assured of a place in the team when he signed.

Dani Ceballos is another who has lost his place often but against Valladolid he may need to be called upon.
