タジキスタンには首都ドゥシャンベから車で約1時間半のヒサール地区にタジキスタン唯一のホナカ・ハンセン病療養所がある。市街地から少し離れた場所にある療養所は50ヘクタールもの広大な敷地があり、裏には豊かな水量を湛えるコファルニガン川が流れている（2013年現在）。

Tajikistan's only leprosarium is about one and a half hours by car from the capital Dushanbe. Seen here in 2013, Honaka leprosarium is located in Gissar district. It is somewhat isolated from the nearest town and stands on 50 hectares of land. Beyond is the Kofarnigan River.
