Conophytum ectypum var. brownii One of the smallest species of Conophytum. A cute Lithops relative with greenish to brownish leaves. Like most plants in this group it produces leaves in pairs, usually one pair per year, although they are so fused together they look like a single leaf. Will form offsets in time forming nice clumps. Easy to grow as long as you don't overwater it. Protect from frost and hot afternoon sun.
Conophytum is a winter growing plant. They are active from early fall until late spring or early summer. They then go dormant during the summer. Water regularly (for a succulent) during the growing season then stop watering in the summer (maybe a little water once a month). You know the plants are dormant when the leaves dry up (looks dead but isn't). These dry leaves form a cover over next year's growth. When ready to grow the new leaves will burst through the old leaves.
