This song forms part #0 for Subterranean Gomi-Kuzu Rose (“Gomi-Kuzu” means rubbish)
To put this song in context, before Komeiji Satori buys the Koishi from the slave market in Chapter 2, (and before she moves to Chireiden) she had a habit of getting pets, one after the other, and then strangling them when she grew bored of them. “Wouldn’t it be more cruel to just stop feeding them and let them starve?”
This novella (サブタレイニアン・ゴミ屑・ローズ Subterranean Gomi-Kuzu Rose) was a pretty good read, though it has some pretty heavy R-18 sections (/sexual/ slave market). Rin was probably my favorite character, but the other characters are fleshed out pretty well. I kind of wish that Okuu wasn’t as self-aware of her bird-brained-ness, but it probably was intentional. Though Koishi goes through some predictable behavior patterns, they do a good job of keeping her “closed” for the entirety of the book. Satori’s dialog (first with the reader and then with Rin) is really well done, and I like how it goes from unnatural to natural as Satori starts to “try” more. I think some of the R-18 was unnecessary (there’s a part that really made me facepalm in chapter 3) but most of it makes contributions to the atmosphere/story, and one of the best parts was on the first pages when Satori berates the reader for expecting some hot yuri action between Satori and Koishi. ^^;
