The 17-Inch Roots and 18-Inch Revolution: Kawasaki Z1(900 SUPER4) Custom by BULL DOCK
BULL DOCK's Z1(900 SUPER4)
A Z1 with a gold and black Fireball pattern that matches well with the black tone of the chassis. It is a complete custom, GT-M (Genuine Tuning Machine), by BULL DOCK. What gives the Z1 its sleek style are the front and rear wheels. It is equipped with 18-inch-diameter irregular 6-spoke LAVORANTE Legenda wheels both at the front and rear. The front fork is a NITRON with a large diameter of 43mm, and the handlebars are of the clip-on type. It seems that modern strength and an enthusiastic vibe have been added to the 18-inch Z Custom, which gives off a slim impression.
"In the past, it was standard to use stock front forks (φ36 mm) or similar slim KYB forks for 18-inch specs. However, the use of large-diameter fully adjustable forks became popular through magazines and SNS, and I think people began to realize that this type of style is possible," says BULL DOCK's Mr. Wakui. The upper half of the engine is converted to a Z1000J type. "The reason is that it is relatively easy to increase power by replacing the engine, and the J-series cylinder can go up to 1100cc with a stock size sleeve. This machine is converted to 1100cc with Pistal forged pistons, Yoshimura ST-1L camshafts, and our original 5-speed cross transmission." Of course, the internal combustion system was machined in-house, and numerical control was done as usual for this GT-M. It is a "best of both worlds" specification that combines the style of an 18-inch with the high power of a 17-inch.
Handle
The carbon round body mirror is a Magical Racing NK-1 mirror with type 6 head. The left and right masters are brembo RCS + K-Factory billet brake levers B13/Type R.
The steering stem is a steering damper-compatible top bridge specification for φ43mm Mccoy uprights, with a Hyper Pro steering damper mounted horizontally. The clip-on handlebar is made by Mccoy. A Yoshimura Progress Meter is added to the stock meter.
Bodyworks
Mccoy's aluminum tank, finished in a gold and black Fireball pattern, also has the advantage of being rust-free and significantly lighter.
The seat is a Mccoy Supreme, which enhances maneuverability and comfort. Small type turn signals are mounted and assist grips are finished in black.
Engine
The engine was converted to the Z1000J series cylinder head and cylinder (upper half), and then to 1100 (1105cc) specification with Pistal Racing φ73mm forged pistons. Yoshimura ST-1L cams and Mccoy 5-speed cross transmission were also added.
Intake & Exhaust
The intake and exhaust are a combination of a TMR carburetor and a full titanium 4-1 (4-2-1 internal) WinMccoy Full Exhaust, which is well set up.
Chassis
The front fork is a NITRON NTR43 and the front brakes are Brembo P4-40RR calipers with Sunstar Works Expand Discs.
The rear brake calipers are Brembo GP2-SS and rear discs are Sunstar Works Expand. The front and rear wheels are forged aluminum LAVORANTE Legenda in 2.75-18/4.50-18 sizes.
The aluminum square swingarm is Mccoy. The rear shock is also NITRON, the same as the front, with springs that match the body color. The drive chain is RK520XXW. Thus, we can also see that the 17-inch specs are projected to the 18-inch.
