At some point in our lives, we all have resorted to buying counterfeit goods. Earlier this week, a Twitter user shared a picture of his fake Puma shoes on which the brand’s name was written as ‘UPMA’. Upma is a popular South Indian breakfast dish made with coarse rice flour or roasted semolina.

While sharing the picture of these fake shoes, Twitter user @Yarth69 wrote, “Thrifted this delicious shoe yesterday from a local market for 690 bucks. Will society accept me.”

This post soon gathered the traction of over 16,000 views. Interestingly, Swiggy Instamart, an on-demand instant grocery delivery service, retweeted this picture and wrote, “Should have checked our app before buying, itna mehnga nahi milta.” This loosely translates to, “Should have checked our app before buying, it is not that expensive. The grocery delivery app also shared a picture of a ready-made Upma mix.

While this person’s counterfeit shoes purchase evoked much laughter. Many people do not get a humorous response to their dubious purchases, especially if the price point is higher.

Earlier this month, a woman named Sanaya took to social media to share photos of the order she had placed and what she received. She had ordered the Apple Watch Series 8 on July 8 for Rs 50,900. But she was horrified to discover that instead of the Apple watch, she was delivered a “FitLife” watch on July 9. She further claimed that Amazon refused to budge and has not yet offered a refund or exchange.
