Beloved burger stand Fatburger lands in Houston with new ghost kitchen

Fatburger, the California-based old-fashioned hamburger stand known for its made-to-order burgers, with add-ons like bacon, onion rings, and fried eggs, has finally landed in Houston. FAT Brands, which also owns Buffalo’s Express and Hurricane Grill & Wings, has launched its first Houston-area ghost kitchen, serving up food from all three restaurants, through third-party delivery apps like UberEats, Grubhub, Postmates, and DoorDash. It the second of such ghost kitchens to open in Texas, with a Dallas-area FAT Brands kitchen opening in late October.

New farmer’s market comes to Rice Village

A new open-air farmer’s market is launching this month in Rice Village, with vendors like family-owned farms, to artisan chocolate makers, to sellers of zero-waste home essentials. The Rice Village Farmers Market, a partnership with Heights Mercantile Farmers Market, will take place on the first and third Sunday of each month, starting on December 6 from 10 am to 2 p.m. Vendors and guests are asked to wear a mask and follow social distancing practices.

Wholesome Pies and Wholesome Kitchen have closed at Lake Houston

Wholesome Restaurant Group, which operated two restaurants at the Generation Park development at Lake Houston, has closed both spots, CultureMap reports. Wholesome Pies served wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas, while Wholesome Kitchen dished out globally-inspired food. Both restaurants had been open since the summer of 2019. The move makes way for a new slate of restaurants to be developed by recently-formed hospitality company Gastropub Productions, helmed by former Bernie’s Bus founder Justin Turner.

Dish Society gets new digs in Katy

After five years, the Katy location of Dish Society is relocating. But diners won’t have to go far. The brand’s second-oldest restaurant is moving a mere 500 feet away from its current location, to 2643 Commercial Center Boulevard, Suite B350. The move will nearly double the restaurant’s space and will allow the eatery’s owners to “refresh” the interior. The new location is expected to open in February 2021.
