What is the difference between 正す (ただす) and 直す (なおす) and I know they both mean to fix, but which is most common? ?Feel free to just provide example sentences.

直す is similar to repair. It is usually used for a thing which doesn't work.
正す is similar to correct. It is used for a thing which doesn't belong to morals or discipline.
Though 直す is more used, they have different meanings and they are used in different scene.

For a grammatical or school work correction, you can use 直す; because it may not work. In such a case, 修正する is also used. but 正す is not used.
