NEARLY THORNLESS! A great classic among the Old Garden Roses, Souvenir de La Malmaison pushes out beautiful, cupped, 4”, delicate blooms of 70+ petals in a gentle, soft pink which open flat and quartered. Once established, she will reward the gardener as a nearly thornless, heat-tolerant, extremely fragrant, and continually blooming rose. Please note that Souvenir de La Malmaison doesn’t love too much rain or heavy pruning.

Has done pretty well in PNW

Also from the Pacific Northwest. My Malmaison has done pretty well for ten or fifteen years - now about 5’ x 5’. Agree with the comment that it does not take well to heavy pruning; didn’t know that earlier and pruned heavily. Poor flower year, but fortunately recovered. Also, a wet stretch when the flower buds are just opening will rot those thickening buds, which of course is a downside in this climate, but usually the summers are dry and the bloom is steady and gorgeous.

Absolutely Amazing!

Planted this rose in a container in May and wasn't expecting much to happen this year. To my surprise, the rose has been in constant bloom since the beginning of July. I wish I could post a photograph.

Fabulous in Las Vegas

This rose grows vigorously in Las Vegas, NV. Second year and it is 4 feet high and loaded with blooms. This is the second house where I have planted it. Very fragrant. Not the greatest cut flower, bur one of my favorite roses.

Doing well in Zone 9

This rose, which I planted last spring, survived the triple digit summers here in AZ. I did end up draping a shade cloth over it in late July. It has probably tripled in size and has produced quite a few blooms. Very happy with it!

not for a rainy area

I love this rose, but living in the Pacific Northwest of Washington State, it did not do well. Slow to grow and one rain would destroy the blossom and buds. Very thin petals. Eventually lost this rose to the climate. Someday maybe I'll try again when I live in a friendlier environmeant.
