Marriage Boot Camp star Tahiry Jose is opening up about a viral video that has viewers extremely concerned. In a preview released this week, Tahiry’s husband Vado can be seen choking her and threatening violence. The viral clip prompted a discussion about domestic violence among fans, and on Wednesday night, the reality star addressed the situation on Instagram, writing, “I’m devastated that this will be shown for the world to see.”

On Wednesday, Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars psychiatrist Dr. Ish Major shared a preview of tonight’s episode that shows a physical altercation between Tahiry and Vado. As Tahiry expresses her concerns, Vado suddenly jumps up and lunges for her neck, yelling, “You’re lucky I don’t fucking hurt you!” Dr. Major pulls him away as the Marriage Boot Camp cast looks on, stunned.

“This is not ok y’all!” wrote the psychiatrist alongside the clip. “Everybody froze. We’re going to do everything we can to make it right.” (Content Warning: domestic violence and abuse).

The clip of Vado choking Tahiry immediately went viral, with many viewers calling out the show’s seemingly cavalier attitude towards domestic abuse. “That shit hurts bro,” wrote one fan. “Not [sic] type of protection or care for women and our wellbeing.”

After a day of discussion, Tahiry stepped in to address the viral video on Wednesday night. In an Instagram post, the Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop star wrote that she would prefer for the footage not to be shown, but she “fully understand[s] that I have chosen to live my life (good… bad… and ugly) in front of the camera.”

“Let me be CLEAR for all the people that are saying that this was ‘scripted’ it is NOT!” she continued. “As a woman that has already suffered physical abuse at the hands of a man why would I ever want to relive that? There is no check big enough for me to EVER play like that!”

Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop airs tonight, Thursday, July 30, at 9/8c on WE tv.
