#WeddingWeek: Spice up your wedding bar with the flavour of Curaçao

Drinks and food are two important elements to your wedding celebration.

If you are still wondering what to serve on your drinks menu, why don’t give your guests a taste of Curaçao.

There are a number of drinks that take advantage of Curaçao’s rich rum and spirit industry.

Here are a few drinks with Curaçaoan flavour that you could add to your drinks menu:

Blue Curacao Margarita Cocktail

First created in 1930 in Mexico, this drink makes use of the island’s most famous export the Blue Curaçao orange liqueur. Since its creation, this simple drink has been a favourite of many around the world.

The ingredients:

  • Coarse salt, for optional rim
  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce Blue Curaçao liqueur
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Simple syrup
  • Lime wedge, or orange slice and cherry, for garnish

How to make the cocktail:

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice; pour the tequila, Blue Curaçao, limejuice, and simple syrup.

Shake well and pour everything into the prepared glass.

Brion beer

The Brion Beer is one of the youngest lagers created in the Caribbean being just under 10 years old. According to its creators, the beer was created specifically with the Curaçaoleños in mind. Brion Beer is described as a light beer with a sweet and malty taste.

Awa Di Lamunchi

Not everyone of your guests may be a fan of alcohol. Therefore, the Awa Di Lamunchi is perfect to add to your drinks menu.

Awa Di Lamunchi is the Curaçao “lemonade” made with lime juce.

Ingredients

  • The juice of three limes
  • 100 grams of sugar
  • 1 litre of water
  • ice cubes

How to prepare Awa Di Lamunchi:

Mix sugar and water into a pot and stir until the sugar dissolves.

Fill a glass with ice, add the lime, a dash of syrup and top up with water.

When you have completed these steps, you can have yourself a serving of Awa Di Lamunchi.

Beachcomber

Another drink that has been loved for many decades is the Beachcomber. This drink makes use of the Senior Curaçao Liqueur.

  • Ingredients
  • ¾ part Senior Curaçao Liqueur (Triple Sec)
  • 2 parts Light rum
  • ¾ part Lime juice
  • 2 dashes Maraschino liqueur
  • ¼ tsp simple syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Preparing a Beachcomber is easy. All you need to do is add all the ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake the container well and pour it into a chilled cocktail glass.
