Lot #113287

This 1992 Yamaha TZR250R 3XV is a Japanese-market example that was brought to the United States under previous ownership before being acquired by the seller in 2018. Modifications include removing the stock power and speed restrictors and installing a remote-reservoir Öhlins monoshock, Race Tech fork springs, a Zeeltronic electronic ignition system, and a two-into-two JL stainless-steel exhaust with carbon-fiber mufflers. Service under the seller’s ownership included rebuilding the fork, overhauling the engine top end, and replacing one of the cylinders and both piston assemblies. Power is provided by a liquid-cooled 250cc two-stroke V-twin mated to a six-speed transmission, and the fully faired bodywork is finished in white with black and red graphics. Equipment includes twin Mikuni carburetors, Yamaha Power Valve System, oil injection, a kick starter, a bar-end mirror, 17″ alloy wheels, and triple disc brakes. This 3XV is now offered with a spare set of fairings, service records, and a clean Alabama title in the seller’s name.

Replacement fully faired bodywork is finished in white with black and red graphics and is mounted over a Deltabox twin-spar aluminum frame. Features include a four-gallon fuel tank, a clear windscreen, a bar-end mirror, rider and passenger seats, a side stand, and folding passenger foot pegs. Discoloration is present on the lower-front fairing behind the front wheel.

Three-spoke 17″ alloy wheels are finished in red and mounted with Dunlop Sportmax Q3+ tires. Stopping power is provided by a pair of drilled discs gripped by four-piston calipers up front in addition to a single drilled disc fitted with a two-piston caliper at the rear. In December 2021 the preload-adjustable inverted fork was rebuilt with a Race Tech spring kit, and a remote-reservoir Öhlins monoshock was fitted to the aluminum swingarm.

Clip-on handlebars are mounted below the upper triple clamp and front instrumentation that consists of a 190-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 12k-rpm redline, a coolant temperature gauge, and a bank of indicator lights. The inset five-digit odometer shows 19k kilometers, approximately 850 of which were ridden by the seller. The seller reports removing the speed limiting sensor and states that the speedometer needle jumps.

The liquid-cooled 250cc two-stroke V-twin is equipped with a pair of Mikuni carburetors, Yamaha’s YPVS (Yamaha Power Valve System), oil injection, and a kick starter. Modifications performed by SpeedWerks of Dover, Delaware, in December 2021 included removing the power restrictor, installing a Zeeltronic programmable electronic ignition system, and fitting a JL two-into-two stainless-steel exhaust system with an expansion chamber and carbon-fiber mufflers. Additional work at that time included overhauling the engine top end, re-jetting the carburetors, installing a mechanical oil pump, and replacing one of the cylinder housings as well as both piston assemblies.

Power is sent to the rear wheel through a six-speed transmission and a drive chain.
