Yellow-footed Tortoise (Geochelone denticulata)

I had originally thought that this was a Red-footed Tortoise G. carbonaria but thanks to both Adriano Jerozolimski and Janet Lawrence who have confirmed that it is, in fact, Yellow-footed Tortoise.

Yellow-footed Tortoise, Linhares, Espírito Santo, Brazil, March 2004 - click for larger image We came across a few of these tortoises who seemed to like coming out of the undergrowth of the Atlantic Rain Forest at dawn and dusk so we saw them on the track or crossing it.

There are pages on this species at the site of the World Chelonian Trust.
