Built in 1900, metal masterpiece of architecture classified Historic building, it is the last work of this type in activity in France. It allows to the walkers the crossing of the river from one bank to another, on board a nacelle.

This bridge rests on two metal pylons high 68 meters and located on both sides of Charente. A 175 meters length apron, culminating with 50 meters with the top of high waters, connects these two pylons between them. A nacelle suspended with this apron then makes it possible to the passengers to pass from a bank to the other.

Location for the opening sequence of Jacques Demy's 1967 musical film "Les Demoiselles de Rochefort" (The Young Girls of Rochefort).
