Characteristic Features

Carapace transversely oval, surface granulated and marked with 3 protuberances, one on the mesogastric region, two on the cardiac region. A granulated line in the protogastric and another in the epibranchial region. Front with two acute teeth between the innerorbital teeth, the first a little smaller than the second. Anterolateral margin armed with 9 pointed teeth including lateral epibranchial spine. Fingers about as the long as manus, inner margins armed with numerous obtuse teeth of various sizes. Last pair of ambulatory legs paddle-shaped, merus and carpus broadened but short.

Habitat

Sandy or muddy bottoms, 10-30 m deep.

Female up to 180mm (Carapace width)

Hong Kong, China - Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Shandong Pen., Peichihli Bay, Liaodong Pen. ; Japan, Korea, Malay Archipelago and Red Sea.
